Art Gallery Hosts Exhibit Celebrating the 31st Anniversary Of Atlantic Cape’s Fine Arts Workshop Series Through April 23

“Celebrating 31!,” an exhibit celebrating Atlantic Cape Community College’s 31st anniversary of its Fine Arts Workshop series is on display at Atlantic Cape’s art gallery, April 1-23, with a reception to meet the artists from 1-3:30 p.m., Saturday, April 23. The gallery is located in the William Spangler Library at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike.

This exhibit will feature the work of workshop participants from throughout the years, as well as artwork by many of the workshop presenters. Continue reading

Atlantic Cape Review Receives 12 Awards In New Jersey Collegiate Press Association’s Annual Better Newspaper Contest

Atlantic Cape Community College’s student newspaper, The Atlantic Cape Review, won 12 awards in the 2015-16 New Jersey Collegiate Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest, an affiliate of the New Jersey Press Association.

Of the 12 awards, five were first place, two were second place, and five were third place. Awards include: Taylor Henry (first semester editor), Rio Grande, won first place for Feature Writing for 2-year schools, first place for Editorial Writing for 2-year schools and second place for Biography/Personality Profile for 2-year schools; Nicole Mingo (second semester editor), Egg Harbor Township, won third place for Biography/Personality Profile for 2-year schools, and third place for Column/Opinion Writing for 2-year schools; Dayanira Quinones, Atlantic City, won third place for Feature Writing for 2-year schools; Johnny Sanchez, Northfield, won second place for News Writing for 2-year schools; Chris Devine, Egg Harbor Township, won third place for Editorial Writing for 2-year schools; Kyle Schachner, Atlantic City, won first place for Column/Opinion Writing for 2-year schools and first place for Investigative/Enterprise Reporting for 2-year schools; Erik Conklin, Egg Harbor Township, won third place for Sports Writing for 2-year schools; and Atlantic Cape Review editorial staff won first place in General Excellence for 2-year schools for the October and November editions.

Atlantic Cape to Host Health Career Planning Session April 13

Atlantic Cape Community College will host a Health Career Planning Session this spring to provide potential students with valuable tips about careers in allied health. The session is free and open to the public, and will be held 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, at the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike, Cafeteria B.

The session is designed for those thinking about pursuing a health career, as well as those considering changing careers, returning to school or those currently enrolled in prerequisite courses for an allied health degree. Continue reading

Registration for Summer and Fall Classes Underway

Registration for new students begins Monday, April 11, at all Atlantic Cape Community College campuses for summer sessions and the fall semester.

Registration hours will be extended to 6:30 p.m., April 11. Normal registration hours are weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The first summer session is six weeks, May 23-June 30; the second session is eight weeks, June 17-Aug. 18; and the third session is six-weeks, July 11-Aug. 18. A full session meets May 13-Aug. 18. Fall semester classes begin Aug. 29. Continue reading

Winners Announced for 50/50 Restaurant Gala Raffle

Lucky ticket-holders shared $10,750 in prizes at this year’s Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala 50/50 Raffle held March 24, at Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City.

The winners include:

First Prize, $6,450, Nicholas Cassano of Egg Harbor Township

Second Prize, $3,225, Joe DelVescio of Ocean View

Third Prize, $1,075, Richard T. Gerber of Northfield

Winning amounts were based on the number of tickets sold. This year, 215 raffle tickets were sold at $100 each, raising $10,750 for grants, emergency aid and leadership development for Atlantic Cape students.

In its history, the Gala has raised $3 million for scholarships and Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation operations.

Restaurant Gala Raises $234,700 for Student Scholarships

The 33rd annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala, with the help of guests, sponsors and donors, raised $234,700, and showcased 40 of the region’s top restaurants at the March 24 event. The proceeds from this event will benefit students at the Academy of Culinary Arts, leadership development programs and Atlantic Cape Foundation operations.

Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City hosted the annual fundraiser, which featured the theme, “MISSION: POSSIBLE.” The event showcased the talents of the culinary students at the Academy of Culinary Arts, who prepared thousands of sumptuous hot and cold hors d’oeuvres served during the cocktail reception.
