Two Academy of Culinary Arts Students Receive Scholarships from the Somers Point Restaurant Association

The Somers Point Restaurant Association awarded two $500 scholarships to Academy of Culinary Arts students, Ony Randrasana of Somers Point and Briana Husak of Vineland, for their academic achievements and participating in this year’s Somers Point “Sip & Savor” Restaurant Week Kick-Off event that was held on Sunday, Oct. 29.  Continue reading

Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Awards Four Scholarships to Culinary and Hospitality Students at Academy of Culinary Arts Food & Wine Festival Nov. 17

The Academy of Culinary Arts Food & Wine Festival held Friday, Nov. 17, welcomed nearly 120 attendants to the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Mays Landing Campus where they dined on authentic French country food and desserts prepared and served by ACA students, as well as sampled international wines.

The event took place in the working kitchens of the academy offering a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how our area’s top culinary and hospitality students prepare for such a unique event. In the past, it was known as a Beaujolais Nouveau tasting open only to Chaîne members and their guests, but last November the event was reimagined as the Academy of Culinary Arts Food & Wine Festival. If you’ve always loved to cook or are ready to make a career change, now is the time to register for spring 2018 classes at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College. Spring classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 16.

New culinary students should contact Judy DeSalvo at 609-343-5624 or desalvo@atlantic.edu to schedule a registration appointment. Registration hours are weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students who take advantage of early registration can delay their payment until Dec. 4. Atlantic Cape also offers an interest-free tuition payment plan for students. Continue reading

Academy of Culinary Arts to Host 21st Annual Food & Wine Festival Nov. 17 Benefiting Culinary And Hospitality Students at Atlantic Cape

culinary student serving food to female customerThe word, “festival,” originated in the 14th century and is derived from the word, “feast.” What better way to celebrate food and wine than with a festival shared with friends? Wine and food enthusiasts can do just that at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 17, at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College, 5100 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing. In conjunction with the Atlantic City chapter of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the academy hosts this celebration where guests will be treated to authentic French country food “live cooking stations” operated by culinary students, complemented by selection of international wines, and topped off with a delectable dessert reveal to end the night.

Academy of Culinary Arts Hosting Fall Open Houses in November and December

The Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will host several open houses this fall for prospective students who love to cook and are interested in starting a career in the culinary field.

The open houses are planned for 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15; and 10 a.m.-noon, Friday, Dec. 8, at the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike, M Building.

The Academy offers two-year degree programs in culinary arts, baking and pastry, and food service management, and specialization programs in hot foods, baking and pastry, food service management and catering. Continue reading

Pop-Up Dinner to Benefit Culinary Student Association Oct. 20 at Careme’s Restaurant

ariel view of watermelon slices and soupThe Culinary Student Association of the Academy of Culinary Arts is hosting a five-course vegetarian pop-up dinner at 6:30 p.m. this Friday, Oct  20, at Careme’s Restaurant located in M Building of the Mays Landing Campus.

Cost is 40$ per person with proceeds benefitting the CSA.

The menu includes Watermelon Gazpacho, Eggplant Spaetzel, Tofu Ceviche, Sweet & Sour Cauliflower Steak and Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce.
